The Conservatives have raised taxes to their highest level since the 2nd World War. But Prime Minister Rishi Sunak still says the Conservatives have cut taxes for families and businesses!

He conveniently ignores the stealth tax increases since 2021. ITV News said,

“...while we’ll be paying less in National Insurance, it won’t make up for the increase in Income Tax we pay - due to the tax threshold freeze.”

The Tories have frozen income tax thresholds until 2028, taking more tax from workers’ pay and many pensions. Put simply, they are increasing taxes for those who are struggling the most during this cost of living crisis.

Working people know they are worse-off under the Conservatives. And The Daily Telegraph agrees. They recently reported that British workers have lost out on more than £10,000 per year - after a decade of economic mismanagement from the Conservatives.

To add to this, the Conservatives aren’t letting us use local business taxes to help support local businesses. Instead they swallow up almost all the business rates collected by local councils. Lib Dem led Mole Valley Council gets less than 4% of business rates collected here to spend on local services and support residents.

Liberal Democrat campaigner, Chris Coghlan said, “Britain can’t afford the Conservatives anymore. We need a General Election and we need it now.”
