Our planet, our future

Government must demand better from the privatised utilities and corporates.

Water companies are failing to deal adequately with sewage and flooding.

Sewage discharges are a health hazard and prevent people from safely enjoying these natural amenities. Inadequate flood defences are wrecking homes and destroying businesses. Chris says:

“The amounts of money invested are not enough to tackle problems with the urgency needed. Water companies have paid £18.9 bn to shareholders since 2010 at the expense of residents and the environment,

“I believe in the enterprise economy but it is the Government’s job to force the hand of companies who fail to respect the needs of consumers and our precious environment.

Chris is also calling on Gatwick Airport to drop their expansion plans.

These plans could lead to a 65% increase in passenger numbers when compared with pre-pandemic operations. He says,

“Gatwick is and must remain a source of high quality jobs for local communities but this expansion would lead to a significant increase in carbon emissions, pollution, noise and traffic congestion as well as adding to existing housing pressures.

“Liberal Democrats are at the forefront campaigning to stop new runways being built in the South East. Beating climate change needs us all, including Gatwick Airport Limited.”
