Lack of action by Surrey CC Highways department, causes dangers.

9.00.00am GMT Sat 10th Dec 2005

For those of you who ever tried to get Surrey County Council Highways Department to fix a faulty street lamp, you will know that it can be a very frustrating experience.

You may remember reading in the press last summer, about a lorry that crashed in Pendleton Road in Redhill on June 10th, close to St. Johns Primary school. The lorry smashed into a wall then knocked over a street lamp, a telegraph pole and a flashing speed warning sign. It's a very dark corner at the junction of Kings Avenue in the evenings.

You may also remember that our local Conservative County Councillor was elected on a promise of sorting out our road problems, but despite requests from local residents, six months have gone by and it still hasn't been fixed.

I am still persisting, but despite numerous phone calls and emails from me to Surrey County Council, the lamp is still not working.

I hope that this letter will hasten a positive result and make this dangerous corner, much safer for everyone after dark.

Councillor Steve Kulka
